The Magic Island
Right Next to Bali, are located this 3 famous "tiny" Islands, "the Gilis" that belong to the island of Lombok, the main land. Gili Trawangan together with Gili Meno and Gili Air are part of the Rinjani-Lombok UNESCO Global Geopark. Geoparks are places where landscapes with amazing geological heritage are used to support sustainable development; this is achieved through conservation, education, interpretation and nature-based tourism.
These 3 islands are unique, life will never be the same after you ‘ve been there. Gili means "small island" in the Sasak language. Sasak are the original people of the island of Lombok and they speak the Sasak language.
In the Gilis no cars or motorbikes are allowed. Walking, bicycle or “cidomo” traditional transport are the options to go around the island. The cidomo is a horse-powered transport typical of the islands of Lombok.
Gili Trawangan is the biggest of the 3 and the only one with a mountain. Trawangan is also know as "Gili T", Party Island, Paradise, among many other names. By bicycle it will take you around 1 hour or more to ride around the perimeter of the island.
Gili Trawangan’s economy is based on tourism. In the island you can find accommodation for all types of visitors, 5 and 4 star hotels, beach resorts, villas, bungalows and hostels for backpackers. There are a few options to get to Gili Trawangan from Bali or from Lombok; Fast Boat, Fast Ferry, Speed Boat, Public Boat or even Helicopter.
The marine life around the island is wonderfull. White sand coral beaches with crystal waters. People from all around the world arrive to Trawangan everyday for diving, snorkelling and looking for some fun-rest adventure. There are around 25 Dive centers just in Gili Trawangan. All around the island there are tourist informations points where you can book your snorkeling private or public trips as well as fishing trips. Touring with a boat round the 3 islands while snorkeling is quite popular. Free Diving /Apnea courses are also available at a free dive center.
All kind of water-sports are also possible in Gili Trawangan: Surf, SUP (Stand up Paddle), wakeboard, banana boat, waterski, aqua flight, subwing, kayak and kitesurf. The option of parasailing is also there. Horse riding at sunrise or sunset.
Night life in Gili Trawangan can get wild, starting with the night market where you can find fresh fish for barbecue and other local food. Open air cinemas, bars are every where and live bands, definitely Gili Trawangan has its unique vibe.

La Isla Mágica
Justo al lado de Bali se encuentran estas tres famosas islas, "las Gili", que pertenecen a la isla principal de Lombok. Gili Trawangan, junto con Gili Meno y Gili Air, forman parte del Geoparque Mundial de la UNESCO Rinjani-Lombok. Los geoparques son lugares donde los paisajes con un asombroso patrimonio geológico se utilizan para fomentar el desarrollo sostenible; esto se logra mediante la conservación, la educación, la interpretación y el turismo de naturaleza.
Estas tres islas son únicas; la vida nunca volverá a ser la misma después de visitarlas. Gili significa "isla pequeña" en idioma sasak. Los Sasak son el pueblo originario de la isla de Lombok y hablan el idioma sasak.
En las islas Gili no se permiten autos ni motos. Caminar, ir en bicicleta o usar el transporte tradicional "cidomo" son las opciones para recorrer y andar por la isla. El cidomo es un medio de transporte tirado por caballos, típico de las islas de Lombok (Sulki).
Gili Trawangan es la más grande de las tres y la única con una montaña. Trawangan también es conocida como "Gili T", Isla de la Fiesta, Paraíso, entre otros nombres.
En bicicleta, recorrer el perímetro de la isla lleva alrededor de una hora o más.
La economía de Gili Trawangan se basa en el turismo. Hay varias opciones para llegar a Gili Trawangan desde Bali o Lombok: Barco, Ferry, Lancha, barco público o incluso helicóptero.

La vida nocturna en Gili Trawangan es única, empezando por el mercado nocturno donde se puede encontrar pescado fresco para asar y otros platos típicos. Cines al aire libre, bares por doquier y música en vivo: sin duda, Gili Trawangan tiene una vibra única.
